Office redo! Spoiler alert: It’s also a guest room

Before shot

This update to our cute little town home took me a lot longer than I’d like to admit. As in, I think it was almost two years after moving in that it was finally finished. Up above you’ll see the before shot. They used the room as a guest room only and it worked. But I love that wall full of windows and knew it would be an great space for an office with all that natural light.

We had already painted the entire house, walls, trim, and doors included. So that warmed up the space from the start. Then we needed to do some shopping. Occasionally we have a house full of visitors so we needed to be able to use this room for guests too. A pull out couch would work perfect. You might be thinking what I was thinking, pull out couches are the WORST. I guess they’ve updated pull outs in the last 20 years though and they’re actually much more comfortable. Oh also, they’re called “sleeper sofas” now, so fancy. We found lots of great options at Crate and Barrel.office decor

To be honest, EVERYTHING else is from IKEA. I didn’t plan to do that, but it’s such a one-stop-shop and once I got going I couldn’t stop myself. Originally, I went for just the desk and chair. And as you can see, I got everything else, oops.

It’s pretty simple, but that’s what I need to be able to think, simplicity. And I was right, the natural light is perfect. This room is bright even during the last 6 months of rain in Seattle!
